Sunflowers in Japan usually bloom from late July to early August every year. Other than hydrangeas, there are quite a few places in Kansai where you can see sunflowers. Today I will introduce to you some sunflower gardens around the Kansai area, follow along!
- Sunflower hill park in Ono, Hyogo
Address: https://maps.app.goo.gl/uwrcbjAT7gMnxGkE6
This is probably the largest and most beautiful sunflower viewing spot in the Kansai area. The only minus point is that it is located quite far from big cities like Osaka or Kyoto (about 70km from Osaka and 90km from Kyoto).
Train and bus travel time to get here is about 2 and a half hours from Osaka or Kyoto, with a cost of about 2500 JPY one way.
To save more time and travel costs, you can also rent a car to drive here (about 1 and a half hours drive), the extremely large parking lot is also completely free.
Here there are about 5-6 extremely large gardens located close together, filled with all kinds of sunflowers.
In the middle of each garden there will be a path in the middle, so people can easily go in and take photos.
Besides this area, there will also be a park and play area specifically for children. Everyone can bring things to picnic here with their family and friends.
Let's take a look at some of the pictures I took here:
Near this garden there are also many restaurants, you can refer to a few restaurants below:

McDonald: https://maps.app.goo.gl/AS4Afi8sV2bMFkKX8
In addition, just to the right of the sunflower garden, there will be many beautiful rice fields growing, you can also walk here to take photos.
This is also a very popular location among photographers, so remember not to miss this super large and beautiful location.
2. Oharano Sunflower Field (大原野ひまわり畑) in Kyoto.
Address: https://maps.app.goo.gl/3xzdX6qBTtCwUB7j6
This location will be suitable for those in Kyoto who are afraid to go far. Only about 50 minutes by train from Kyoto Station, and the cost is only about 500 JPY!
Although the campus is much smaller than the garden in Ono, this place is extremely deserted, because quite few people know about it. Suitable for those who do not want to go to crowded places.
The special thing is that in this garden there are black-petaled sunflowers, everyone should definitely not miss them.
In addition, this garden is also located near a "Second bamboo forest in Kyoto” that I have written on Blog before. If you have time, you can go to the bamboo forest to take photos.
3. Yodo, Kyoto
Address: https://maps.app.goo.gl/VAJaaRrHQGZnypTKA
Although not a famous place, it meets two important criteria: it is close (for those in Osaka and Kyoto), and extremely few people visit.
4. Tsurumi Ryokuchi Park in Osaka
Address: https://maps.app.goo.gl/NkuzmTWY8jDFWRVV7
A park that is extremely familiar to those who live in Osaka. The park with a very large campus, full of seasonal flowers, will also be a good choice for those in Osaka but do not want to go far to the above locations.
Above are a few places where you can see sunflowers in cities in the Kansai region of Japan, such as Kyoto, Hyogo, Osaka.
