Continuing my series of articles about early blooming cherry blossoms - Kawazu Sakura in Japan, with the first article in Matsuda, Kanagawa. This time, we will go about 400km southwest, to our favorite city - the ancient capital of Kyoto.
Review my article about Kawazu Sakura in Matsuda at THIS.
In Kyoto, there are also many locations with Kawazu Sakura, however most locations usually only have a few trees, not many in number, and grow individually. However, there is a place with a lot of early blooming cherry trees, where everyone in Kyoto and Osaka flocks every time spring comes, which is the Kawazu Sakura festival in Yodo.

Yodo is a district located in Fushimi City, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. It is famous for the Yodo River, an important river that flows through the Kansai region and marks the border between Kyoto and Osaka.
The closest train station to this location is Yodo Station, Keihan line.
The weather was quite sunny, so I went to take pictures of the trees in front of the station, avoiding the crowd inside the festival area.
What I like about this special type of cherry blossom is its color, light pink, which looks much more beautiful than normal (white) cherry blossoms.
After about a 10 minute walk from Yodo station, this is our destination today. A row of Kawazu Sakura trees is 500 meters long!
Let's explore the photography angles here.
Once you've found a photo frame, all that's left is to wait for someone to pass by 😀
The next photo frame I found.
The best time to go to the flower festival in Yodo is from late February to mid-March, depending on the weather each year, but there is almost no difference.
The festival also has a lot of "participation" from adorable dogs.
This place also seems to be a "dog festival" 😀 Many different breeds of dogs, wearing adorable outfits, were brought by their owners.
Another very beautiful shooting angle that should not be missed is taking pictures of cherry blossoms with ships passing by.
And finally, see some portrait photos I took here:
