Ine no Funaya is a Kyoto fishing village small coastal town in Ine, about 120km north of Kyoto Station. This place is famous for its ancient wooden floating houses, along the coast of Ine Bay. Along with that is Amanohashidate, about 25km from Ine no Funaya, one of the "three great scenic spots" of Japan (Nihon Sankei - Top 3 most beautiful tourist destinations in Japan, besides Matsushima Bay and Miyajima Island).
Although very popular with Japanese people, Ine & Amanohashidate is not well known to tourists, and is easily overlooked in Kyoto travel itinerary. Through this article, I will share with you my trip to these two beautiful places, to diversify your Kyoto trip.

How to go to Kyoto fishing village The easiest way is by car, because the train takes a long time, is expensive and you can't control your time.
I departed from Kyoto Station at 7:30 a.m., and it took about 3 hours to get to Ine fishing village. Because it was already noon, I decided to eat here first and then go sightseeing and take photos. Ine is famous for its fresh seafood (of course, it's a fishing village), and the restaurants are also located close together, next to the parking lot.

You can also try the shops next door if this shop is too crowded.
In addition to the specialty braised fish, you can also try Katsudon if you can't eat seafood.
This restaurant is worth the money for its location. Sitting on the 2nd floor of the restaurant or the backyard has an extremely beautiful view of the fishing village from above, don't miss it.

After taking photos at the restaurant, I started moving down to the fishing village area below.
Everything along the way is very beautiful and ancient, just raise the camera to get beautiful photos.
The next place that you must go to is Ine cafe, a cafe with a view of the sea and the entire fishing village, extremely famous on Instagram.

Next, go along the fishing village to visit and enjoy the fresh air here.

This corner can be considered the most beautiful place to take photos of the fishing village.
After about 2 hours of exploring and taking photos at Ine no Funaya, I moved to the cruise area to see the entire Ine Bay.

There will be a 2-story yacht that will take you around Ine Bay (about 30 minutes), along with the experience of feeding seagulls and taking photos on the yacht.
The cruise ticket is 1000 JPY and don't forget to buy food for the Seagulls at the entrance before boarding the boat (100 JPY per package). In addition, local specialties and souvenirs are also sold here.
Many seagulls follow the yacht and fly very close, so it is not difficult to take photos of this wonderful scene.
Some close-up photos of seagulls:
After filming, taking photos and feeding the seagulls, you can go down to the first floor of the yacht, there are also many beautiful photography angles here.
Some photos I took on the first floor:
I ended my visit to Ine no Funaya here with many interesting experiences and hundreds of beautiful photos to take home.
Next, I got in the car and started moving to the next location: Amanohashidate - one of the three most beautiful landscapes in Japan.
It takes about half an hour by car from Ine fishing village to Amanohashidate. Here we will line up to buy tickets to the top of the viewing area. There are 2 types of tickets here: Chair lift (single seat) and Mono rail (sitting in the sightseeing train). Two types cost 850 JPY for both up and down directions.
I highly recommend that you take the Chair lift because you can comfortably take photos with a very beautiful rear view. Sitting in the Mono rail is quite cramped and boring.
From the starting point to the top takes about 3-5 minutes, so there is plenty of time for everyone to film and take photos.
And here is the first view when we reach the top:
All fatigue disappeared after admiring this scene.
There are too many angles to take photos here 😀
There are also many services here for everyone to experience, especially for children, such as the sun wheel and scenic cycling from above.
After about an hour of taking photos and having fun here, I was ready to leave before dark.
At the walkway down, we continue to use the Chair lift to go, and can take photos one more time.
And I got on the bus to return to Kyoto, which also took about 3 hours, and arrived at Kyoto station at 7:30 p.m. End your journey with a perfect day exploring the fishing villages of Ine no Funaya and Amanohashidate. Come and experience these two wonderful places when you have the opportunity to travel to Kyoto, the scenery here will definitely not disappoint you!
