November is indeed the best time to see autumn in Japan, along with the yellow leaves from the ginkgo trees , the maple leaves (momiji) are also a symbol of autumn in the Land of the Rising Sun. Today I will introduce to you one of the places where you can see the earliest red leaves in Kyoto – the Japanese-style garden Suikei-en (水景園). Let's explore!
Địa chỉ: Google Map
This garden is located within the Keihanna Memorial Park (けいはんな記念公園). To get there, take the train to Shin-Hōsono Station. From there, you can catch bus number 36 or 56. It’s about a 10-minute bus ride to the park entrance.

The path leading to the park is also stunning, with three rows of golden trees stretching over 2 kilometers, offering many photogenic spots along the way.

Let's go inside the park to see what's there.

The entrance fee to Suikei-en Garden is 200 JPY for adults and 100 JPY for students. Additionally, the garden is free for people over 60 years old and children under school age.

First, we will cross the Kangetsukyo Bridge, a 10-meter-high and more than 100-meter-long bridge, where we can enjoy a panoramic view of the entire garden from above.

Let's take a look at some pictures I took from Kangetsukyo Bridge!

Nagatani Pond is designed in tiers, like terraced fields, and creates beautiful “mini waterfalls”.

At the end of this bridge, we will reach the art performance stage area. During my visit, there were many performances taking place, including traditional musical instrument performances and dances by dancers, adding to the vibrant atmosphere.

Above the stage, there are also quite a few statues that look very interesting.

After watching all the performances, I went down to explore and take pictures of the garden.

The way down to the garden is a lot of stone steps.

The weather today is sunny, so the maple leaves are very beautiful.

It seems that this place is not very well known, so it remains peaceful without the overcrowding seen at famous spots like Kiyomizu-dera or Arashiyama.

Walking to the middle of the garden, we can see the entire Kangetsukyo Bridge from below, offering a beautifully framed view.

Inside the garden, there are many beautiful small waterfalls, a favorite photo spot for many people.

The further you walk towards the end of the garden, the more red maple trees you’ll encounter, creating a stunning autumn landscape.

After going around the garden, we will go to the Nagatani pond area.

This area also features many stone benches where visitors can rest, enjoy the scenery, and feed the fish in the pond.

After visiting Suikei-en Garden, since it was still early (around 4 PM) and the sun was shining beautifully, I decided to walk along the golden leaf path to capture some photos with the sunset.

Two photos comparing when it's sunny and not sunny 😀

And this is the end of my fulfilling day with hundreds of beautiful photos taken. Very lucky because the weather was supportive, no more rain like every time I go out 😀
