An Dinh Palace, located in Hue city, is a unique architectural work of the Nguyen Dynasty, bearing the imprint of the intersection between Asian and European cultures. Built in the early 20th century, it was once the residence of King Bao Dai and the royal family after their abdication. With its ancient beauty and special historical value, An Dinh Palace is a must-see destination when exploring the heritage of the ancient capital of Hue.
And today, let's explore An Dinh Palace with me through the photos I took here.
Address: Google Map
Ticket price: 50,000 VND for adults, free for children.
Right at the entrance, we will see Khai Tuong Tower, the main architectural work of An Dinh Palace, consisting of 3 floors, bearing a strong architectural style combining Asia and Europe.
On the opposite side is the main gate of An Dinh Palace, often known as "Tam Quan Gate" with its prominent arched architecture. Next to it, you'll find Trung Lap Pavilion, which houses a life-sized statue of King Khai Dinh – the 12th emperor of the Nguyen Dynasty.
Stepping inside Khai Tuong Tower, you'll be greeted by a splendid palace spanning over 700 square meters (3 floors). This was once the residence of King Khai Dinh.
The palace currently exhibits artifacts used by the king and paintings of high artistic value. Most notably, there are six paintings depicting the actual scenes of five Hue royal tombs: Dong Khanh Tomb, Tu Duc Tomb, Thieu Tri Tomb, Minh Mang Tomb, and Gia Long Tomb.
The first floor also offers a variety of fantastic photo opportunities. Here are a few of my favorite spots:
The 2nd and 3rd floors were formerly the residence of Empress Dowager Tu Cung. Currently, they are used to display antiques and precious documentary paintings of King Khai Dinh and Queen Nam Phuong from the past.
The architecture inside Khai Tuong Tower is truly beautiful, with symmetrical design found almost everywhere, along with the harmonious blend of Asian and European furnishings. This place is also often chosen by couples as a wedding photography location, as well as by Vietnamese singers and actors as the main filming location for their projects.
Stepping out onto the balcony of the 2nd floor, we can get a closer look at the building's architecture.
From here, I can also get a bird's-eye view of Trung Lap Pavilion and Tam Quan Gate.
After fully exploring the inside of Khai Tuong Tower, I continued to move to the back of the palace. This is also a very beautiful place to take photos, with many old buildings and flower gardens...
Having witnessed countless changes throughout history, this structure still stands strong, becoming an attractive destination for domestic and international tourists, evoking memories of a glorious period of the ancient capital Hue.
And that concludes a morning of sightseeing and photography at An Dinh Palace for me. This magnificent and historic palace will definitely be on my list of must-see destinations in Hue - Vietnam.
