Kyoto is a city famous for its many ancient buildings, and many places of natural beauty, one of which is the Arashiyama bamboo forest. But because it is a famous place in a big city, it is inevitable that there are always many tourists passing through here, and it is difficult to take a satisfactory photo with them. Not a single person walks into your photo, unless you have to leave very early, or have to spend a lot of time editing the photo.

Therefore, today I will introduce to you a second bamboo forest in Kyoto, as beautiful as Arashiyama, but very few people know about it. Therefore, we can freely take photos with Kimono, or take photos with friends without having to worry about encountering too many people passing by. And that is the bamboo forest Takenomichi (竹の径).

Takenomichi Entrance (竹の径)

These photos were taken around 3-4pm, an extremely crowded time in Arashiyama. But for Takenomichi, this whole road seems to belong to you entirely 😀

This road is long and has many curves, creating great depth for photos, so don't worry about lacking a photography angle!

Taking Kimono photos here is so beautiful :v
A house is being built.

The total length of this road is 1.8km, about 3 times longer than the Arashiyama bamboo forest (about more than 500m).

Takenomichi is also very easy to get to, only about 25 minutes by train and bus from Kyoto station.

From Kyoto station, take the Tokaido-Sanyo line (A) to Katsuragawa station, then exit, and take the bus right outside the station to Minami Fukunishicho 2 Chome (11 minutes, 7 stops), then walk It takes about 5 minutes to arrive.

There is also a map showing how to get there, quite convenient.

According to the map above, we will pass through 8 different types of bamboo fences during our journey, the names of each type of bamboo fence are also in the photos.

At the end of this road, you will reach a park where you can rest, eat, and there are also public restrooms here.

This place can be visited in all 4 seasons and is beautiful all year round. In winter, there is snow all over the road and bamboo fences, in spring and summer it is cool, and if you go in the fall, you can combine a walk around this forest with the yellow leaf path (ginkgo trees). ) famous in Kyoto right at the exit of the forest.

Straight row of ginkgo trees at the exit of the forest.

The most beautiful time for this yellow leafed road is around October to November. This area also has little traffic so taking photos is also very easy.
