In Japan, there are often extremely large fields of mustard flowers, interspersed with cherry blossoms, creating a very beautiful scene every spring. Almost all regions in Japan have fields and gardens of this type, from Kyushu, Kansai, Kanto to Hokkaido. (You can also review my article about the early blooming cherry blossom park and canola flowers in Matsuda at HERE).
And today I will introduce to you an extremely large garden of canola flowers combined with cherry blossoms in Nara, in the Kansai region of Japan, which is the canola flower garden at Fujiwara Palace.

You can take the train and walk here. The closest train station to this area is Miminashi station.

The garden is about 1.5km from the train station (15 minutes walk), but along the way there are many places to take photos, so walking wasn't too tiring, because I stood and took photos while walking 😀
Don't miss taking photos with the train passing here. This is a local train, with only 2 carriages, looking quite cute.
Maybe many people don't know, but Fujiwara also has a very long history. It was the second capital of Japan during the Nara period (710-794). By the 8th century, Fujiwara-kyō had developed into a major cultural center, boasting palaces, temples, and monumental structures.
However, until now, only the ruins of ancient palaces remain here, including fragments of palaces, temples, tomb mounds and extremely beautiful flower gardens. In addition to the rapeseed and cherry blossom gardens, this place is also famous for its cosmos flower fields, lotus ponds,...
You can also travel easily by car to get here. Right in front of the garden there is a very large parking lot.
Contrary to the bustle of other cherry blossom viewing locations in the Kansai region, the atmosphere here is quite peaceful and comfortable. Perhaps part of the reason is that it is located quite far from the center of major cities, so it avoids most tourists. According to my observations, almost only local people come here, very few tourists come here.
By the time I came here (March 31, 2024), cherry blossoms had already begun to bloom on a few trees, expected to bloom best between April 5 and April 20 (2024 cherry blossoms). blooms 1-2 weeks later than usual).
This area is extremely large and airy, so many people also bring things to picnic and rest here.
Even pets are brought here a lot to take photos 😀
Let's take a look at some photography angles in this area.
Just standing outside the garden, we can get this fairy tale-like scene.
Fluffy dresses are extremely suitable for the mustard flower garden.
Remember to prepare beautiful accessories to take the best photos here.
The garden is also a favorite place for bees 😀
There are already cherry trees blooming their first flowers.
Two quite satisfactory photos of me today.
In this area, there are also some Japanese snacks sold, such as dango, mochi, strawberries, etc.
Some ideas for taking photos with Dango.
Besides snacks, there are quite a few eateries around the garden. If you intend to stay and take photos for a long time, you should buy food here and have a picnic.
Next to the mustard flower garden, there is also another extremely long row of cherry blossom trees. Remember, don't miss it!
At this point, you have completed a tour around the mustard and cherry blossom gardens in Fujiwara. This is a very suitable location for family and friends picnics, as well as a must-see photography location in spring in the Kansai region.
This flower garden is very large, enough room for many people to take photos, so please pay attention to the signs prohibiting entering the middle of the garden, preserving the general landscape!
