Doya Terraced Rice Fields (also known as Doya Tanada) are located on Fukushima Island, in the north of Nagasaki Prefecture, about 70km southwest of Fukuoka City. This terraced rice field is recognized as one of the 100 most beautiful terraced rice fields in Japan. Today, let's explore with me to see what attractive landscapes there are.

The only way to get here is by car. It took me about 1 hour to drive from the center of Fukuoka to here, very fast. People can combine visiting places in Fukuoka , then move here in the afternoon and watch the sunset. (You can read the travel schedule of places in Fukuoka HERE ).
When I arrived here, it was July 30, the rice was still green and starting to bloom.
I left from Sakurai Futamigaura's Couple Stones at 3:30pm, and luckily made it there just in time for sunset.
Doya terraced fields are located close to the Genkai sea, in the distance are many mountains and small islands on the sea, creating an extremely unique landscape.
Every September, a festival called the “Doya Tanada Fire Festival” takes place here. More than 3,000 lanterns are lit around the rice fields here, creating a magical, picturesque atmosphere at night.
There are also many large parking areas for people to visit and take pictures. Especially, it is completely free.
This is also a very beautiful place to watch the sunset in Nagasaki. Sunset on the sea is always the most attractive thing for me.

Sunset here lasts only 15-20 minutes, everyone should take quick photos before the sun sets.
