Mui Dien is located in Hoa Tam commune, Dong Hoa district, Phu Yen, about 35 km southeast of Tuy Hoa city. It is the easternmost point of Vietnam's S-shaped land, known as the first place to welcome the sunrise on the mainland.

Today, let's explore Mui Dien - one of the most beautiful and famous places in Phu Yen through my photos and stories.

Mui Dien Address: Google Map

To start the journey, I departed at 4:30 AM from the center of Tuy Hoa city (Phu Yen) to catch the sunrise at 5:30 AM. The sunrise time depends on when you arrive, and usually, in the summer, the sunrise happens earlier. Be sure to check the sunrise time carefully on weather apps before heading out.

You can choose to view the sunrise from the entrance (to capture the sunrise along with the Dai Lanh Lighthouse), or you can go straight to the Dai Lanh Lighthouse for the best panoramic view from above. If you want to catch the sunrise at the Đại Lãnh Lighthouse, it's recommended to leave 30-40 minutes earlier than your planned schedule (this is the time it takes to walk uphill from the entrance to the lighthouse, and there is no faster alternative).

Entrance ticket to the temple : 40,000 VND / 1 adult.

When you reach the gate to buy tickets and park your car, it's a good idea to buy some drinks (or bring some from home), as the walk to the lighthouse is quite long and tiring. After about 30-40 minutes of walking, this is the scene that appeared before my eyes:

I don't understand how this dog can climb up here 😀

The next point I took a photo of was the checkpoint with the landmark " Mui Dien - The first place to welcome the sunrise on mainland Vietnam " (Don't pay attention to the English part on the checkpoint board 😀 )

The landscape here is surrounded by mountains and the sea in three directions, with the lighthouse situated on the highest mountain in the remaining direction. From the top, you can admire the vast sea and sky, especially the brilliant moment of sunrise over the ocean.

One of the most beautiful views in Mui Dien.

Ideal time to visit Mui dien: From January to August is the best time to visit, when the weather is dry, the sun is shining, and the sea is clear. The rest of the year typically brings strong winds, rough seas, and frequent storms. Make sure to plan your visit accordingly.

Because this area has mountainous terrain and hot weather, you should bring a hat, sunscreen, drinking water, and, most importantly, wear sneakers for easy movement.

And the next place I explored at Mui Dien was the Dai Lanh Lighthouse, which is located at the highest point of Mui Dien.

Don't forget to take a photo here before climbing up.

You can climb to the top floor of the lighthouse to get a panoramic view of Phu Yen from above, (about 100 steps from the 1st floor).

And there is one more thing you should definitely experience when coming to Mũi Điện: tasting the local specialties. In the parking lot near the entrance, there is a shop selling delicious food and drinks, offering local dishes such as seafood vermicelli, oyster porridge, seafood fried noodles, pineapple ginseng tea, ...

Oyster porridge, seafood noodles, seafood vermicelli in Mui Dien.

Cháo hàu and trà sâm dứa are the two best dishes, in my opinion. The shop is quite busy, and the waiting time for the food can be a bit long (the owner mentioned that they only prepare fresh food after receiving an order, which takes longer than usual). However, the food is very delicious and well worth the wait. I highly recommend trying these dishes when you visit Mui Dien.

After eating and resting at the restaurant, I changed clothes and headed to Bai Mon beach for a swim. This beach is only about 500 meters from the restaurant, just a 5-10 minute walk. The water here is very cool and clear (so clear that you can see fish swimming at your feet), and there are very few people, making it a perfect spot to relax after a tiring morning of hiking.

And that was the end of my journey to explore Mui Dien . Although I didn’t get a satisfactory sunrise photo (the clouds covered the sun), the tiring climb to the top, and then witnessing the majestic natural scenery from above was an unforgettable experience for me when I came here.
