Enoshima is a small island located in Sagami Bay,Japan , about 50km southwest of Tokyo , famous for its extremely beautiful coastline, with very big waves, a favorite destination for surfing enthusiasts. Today, let's follow me to see where I go in a day in Enoshima .

Enoshima Island Address: Google Map.
First, about how to get there, you go to Fujisawa station, then change to the Enoden line , go to Kamakurakōkō-Mae station, and this is also my first destination today.
The train station is famous for its panoramic view of the sea, islands and Mount Fuji . But when I arrived here it was quite late (around 10pm), so the clouds had come and covered the entire Mount Fuji. But it's okay, I'll come back here in the evening with the hope that the clouds will clear up 😀

In addition to this view of Enoshima Island, this train station still has many super beautiful check-in views, let's explore with me:

I spent quite a while standing here, patiently waiting for the perfect moment to capture someone crossing this iconic road marking. 😃

The next place, also right at this train station, is a famous slope, from where you can see the Enoden train running along the coast.

Definitely worth the wait to capture these amazing shots!

Additionally, you can stand at the top of the slope to capture the perfect moment as the train arrives, creating a stunning and dynamic shot.

This slope is almost always packed with people taking photos and videos. If you want to capture the train passing by without others in your shot, try walking about 200 meters down the road. There’s another slope there that few people notice, offering a quieter and equally beautiful vantage point.

Since there is no exact name on Google Map, I will leave the address of a nearby store for you to easily find: Google Map

I met two Vietnamese friends here and took a souvenir photo for them to capture the moment.
Luckily, the weather was bright and sunny during my visit, so I took a leisurely walk along the beach, capturing the everyday moments and vibrant atmosphere of this beautiful coastal spot.

This area is near Koshigoe station , I will leave the address here: Google Map.
After that, I headed into the train station to catch a ride to my next destination.

The next place I went to was a Buddhist temple, called Kamakura Hasedera.
Address: Google Map.
Get on the train and go to Hase station , then walk according to Google map.

This Buddhist temple, built in the 8th century, features a spacious campus. The main hall is located high on the mountain, offering a beautiful view of part of the city from above.
Admission is 400 JPY for adults and 200 JPY for children.

A special feature of the temple is the bronze statue of Mahasthamaprapta Buddha, standing over 9 meters tall, placed inside the main hall.

There are still roofs with many different colors.

Every year, during June and July, the temple is also adorned with hydrangeas, blooming next to the bamboo groves.

After exploring the temple, I headed to the next location, which was just a short 3-minute walk away.
The next stop is Kotoku-in Temple , famous for its giant outdoor statue of Buddha.
Address: Google Map

Temple entrance fee is 300 JPY.

Just outside the temple gate, you'll find shops selling souvenirs inspired by the temple, including custard cakes shaped like Shakyamuni Buddha—a unique and delicious keepsake!

Perhaps this is the cake that I felt the most guilty about eating T.T, but it was just too delicious to resist!
And finally, I'll move on to today's main location, Enoshima Island.
Address: Google Map
From Hase station , take the train to Enoshima station , then walk across the Enoshima Benten bridge and onto the island.

First, you’ll encounter a slope lined with restaurants and souvenir shops on both sides of the road. Being a coastal area, most of the dishes here are seafood-based and incredibly fresh, making it a perfect stop for food lovers.

If you enjoy hiking and climbing stairs, you can head straight to the temple. However, I recommend buying an escalator ticket at the counter on the left side of the Torii gate to save both time and energy. In the escalator area, there’s also a special light show where visitors can take photos. Plus, the ticket includes admission to several famous spots on the island!
Ticket price 1500 JPY for adults.

People often place their coins in the basket here, wash them with the provided water, and then toss them into the offering box while making a wish or prayer.
Next, I headed to the Enoshima Sea Candle Tower, where you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire city. On clear days, you might even catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji in the distance!
The entrance fee for the tower is 800 JPY, but if you’ve already purchased the 1,500 JPY ticket at the beginning, entry is free.

Enoshima Island is famous for its specialty, **Tako Senbei**—a pressed squid cake. Be sure to try it while you're here for a true taste of the island!

The last place I visited on Enoshima Island was the Enoshima Iwaya Cave, a fascinating spot known for its mysterious atmosphere and stunning coastal views.

Here, you'll find a beautiful long red bridge, offering majestic views of both the mountains and the sea, creating a truly stunning backdrop for photos and exploration.
After crossing the bridge, you’ll reach the Enoshima Iwaya Cave, where you can explore its mysterious interior and enjoy the unique coastal beauty surrounding it.

Inside the cave, you'll also find a photo exhibition showcasing the history of Enoshima Island, offering insight into its rich cultural and natural significance.

Along the entrance of the cave, you'll notice lanterns that add to the mystical atmosphere, casting a soft glow as you make your way inside.
After a tour of the Enoshima Iwaya Cave, I left the island and returned to the Enoshima Benten Bridge to watch the “ The Diamond Fuji ” event. This event is described as being able to see the sun set right at the top of Mount Fuji , creating a scene like a glowing diamond. Of course, it will depend on the weather conditions of each day whether you can admire it or not.

By the time I returned to the bridge, it was around 5 p.m. The sun was beginning to turn a dark yellow, signaling that sunset was approaching.

At that moment, Mount Fuji was still hidden behind the clouds, but I decided to stay, hoping they would clear in time for sunset, giving me a chance to catch a glimpse of the majestic mountain.

Just as I hoped, the sun slowly set, and the clouds gradually cleared, revealing Mount Fuji little by little. It was an amazing sight to witness!

Although I didn’t get to witness the full Diamond Fuji event, I was still incredibly happy to experience this beautiful moment—the last rays of sunlight illuminating the sky behind Mount Fuji. It was truly a breathtaking sight.

And this is the photo I’m most satisfied with today. At that moment, my camera told me there was only one photo left in memory, so I quickly searched for the best angle and timing to capture it. And here’s the result:

So I ended my journey to explore Enoshima in the most perfect way. Hundreds of beautiful photos were taken and almost every moment was very special. This is probably one of my most memorable trips in my journey to explore Japan over the years.
And finally, here's the author of today’s article. Thank you for reading all the way to the end—I hope you enjoyed this journey as much as I did!
