Continuing my series of articles about early blooming cherry blossoms—Kawazu Sakura in Japan, with the first article in Matsuda, Kanagawa. This time, we’ll travel about 400km southwest to one of my favorite cities, the ancient capital of Kyoto.

Check out my post about Kawazu Sakura in Matsuda HERE .

In Kyoto, there are several locations with Kawazu Sakura, but most of them feature only a few trees scattered individually. However, there is one special place that stands out for having a large number of these early-blooming cherry trees, and that’s the Kawazu Sakura Festival in Yodo. Every spring, people from Kyoto and Osaka flock here to witness the beautiful sight.

Yodo is a district located in Fushimi City, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. It is well-known for the Yodo River, a significant river that flows through the Kansai region, serving as a natural border between Kyoto and Osaka.

The closest train station to this location is Yodo Station on the Keihan Line, making it easy to access the Kawazu Sakura Festival in Yodo.

Right outside Yodo station, there are also many cherry blossoms in bloom.

The weather was quite sunny, so I decided to take photos of the trees in front of the station, avoiding the crowds inside the festival area. It was a peaceful spot to capture the beauty of the Kawazu Sakura in a quieter setting.

It was a beautiful sunny day so the color of the photo was also very pretty.

What I love about this special type of cherry blossom is its color—a soft, light pink that looks even more beautiful than the typical white cherry blossoms. It gives off a delicate and vibrant vibe that makes the scenery truly mesmerizing.

After about a 10-minute walk from Yodo Station, we arrived at our destination for today. A stunning row of Kawazu Sakura trees stretches for 500 meters, creating a breathtaking sight as far as the eye can see!

Let's explore the photography angles here.

Once you've found a picture frame, all that's left is to wait for someone to walk by.

And finally a couple walked past my photo frame :v

The next photo frame I found.

This is the result after 15 minutes of waiting, hoping someone would walk past this heart-shaped picture frame.

The best time to visit the flower festival in Yodo is from late February to mid-March, depending on the weather each year, but there is usually not much difference.

A quite satisfactory shooting angle for me, the scene is quite similar to those in Anime movies.

The festival also features the "participation" of many adorable dogs, adding an extra charm to the already beautiful scene.

This place seems to be a "dog festival" too. Many different dog breeds, dressed in adorable costumes, were brought along by their owners.

Cuteee
Another shooting angle, with a very classic advertising sign.
Even the picture of the bicycle looks beautiful.
In addition to cherry blossoms, mustard flowers are also blooming here.
This area is quite deserted, the shooting angle is also beautiful.

Another beautiful shooting angle that shouldn’t be missed is capturing the cherry blossoms with ships passing by in the background, creating a serene and dynamic scene.

This area is near the train station so we often see this scene.

And finally, see some portrait photos I took here:
