Starbucks Tsutaya is a unique collaboration between the world-renowned coffee brand – Starbucks and Japan’s leading bookstore chain, Tsutaya. Together, they’ve created a distinctive café-bookstore concept that has spread across the Land of the Rising Sun. Since its debut, Starbucks Tsutaya has quickly won the hearts of Japanese youth, thanks to its calm, modern, and inspiring atmosphere. It’s not just the perfect spot to enjoy a rich cup of coffee – it’s also an ideal place to study, work, or simply unwind in a creative and cozy space. And of course, it’s incredibly photogenic, too.

This article highlights three of the most attractive Starbucks Tsutaya cafés in Osaka. Known for their quiet and spacious interiors, these locations are often frequented by locals rather than tourists, making them ideal for those seeking a more authentic experience.
- Starbucks Coffee – Umeda Tsutaya Books
Located on the 9th floor of Lucua 1100 — a shopping complex directly connected to Osaka Station — this café feels like a hidden gem tucked away amidst the hustle and bustle of Osaka Station City.

Even though it’s located right in the heart of Osaka’s busiest train station, its elevated position inside a spacious high-rise means it often gets overlooked by tourists. Instead, it has become a favorite hideaway for locals.

The Starbucks space sits right at the heart of the store, surrounded by Tsutaya’s bookshelves — making it feel like you’re nestled inside an open library. You can even pick up a book from the shelves and bring it to your table, creating a peaceful and relaxing experience.

Since this location tends to get quite busy, there’s a two-hour seating limit per drink order. If you’re planning to come here to study or work, be sure to keep that in mind and plan your time accordingly.

2. Starbucks Tsutaya Hirakata T – Site

Starbucks Tsutaya at Hirakata T-Site is one of the most beautiful Starbucks in Osaka, in my opinion. Located just a short walk from Hirakatashi Station in the suburbs of Osaka, it’s about a 30-minute train ride from Umeda Station.

Located within the Hirakata T-SITE complex, Starbucks Tsutaya boasts a spacious and airy open space — an ideal spot for studying, working, or simply relaxing in a peaceful atmosphere surrounded by shelves of inspiring books.

One of the most striking features that makes this café so popular is its towering 7-meter-high book walls, where natural sunlight streams through large glass windows, creating a space that feels both magical and enchanting.

From time to time, the café transforms into an elegant exhibition space, where works by renowned artists are tastefully displayed and introduced to the public.

Beyond books and art, this space is also a paradise for photography lovers. Natural light pours in through the large windows, illuminating the towering bookshelves and creating a dreamy backdrop perfect for capturing poetic frames.

3. Starbucks Tsutaya Umeda MeRISE

This Starbucks is located inside the Kansai University Umeda Campus complex—also known as “KANDAI MeRISE”—just a 5–10 minute walk from Umeda Station.

This Starbucks features a spacious and cozy interior filled with natural light. With a variety of seating options—individual chairs, long benches, and shared tables—it caters perfectly to both solo visitors and groups.

From the moment you step onto the first floor, the space offers a sense of calm, with Starbucks products elegantly displayed alongside tall shelves lined with books—blending the aroma of coffee with the quiet beauty of knowledge.

The second floor is designed like a miniature university library, with neatly arranged bookshelves and a serene atmosphere that fills the entire space. It’s mainly intended for solo visitors looking to study or work, offering private desks and built-in power outlets for laptops.

While it may not be as spacious as the other two locations, Starbucks Tsutaya Umeda MeRISE is the most accessible among the three I'm sharing today—perfect for a quick visit if you're in the Umeda area or near Osaka Station.

And there you have it—three of the most beautiful and worthwhile Starbucks Tsutaya cafés to visit in Osaka. Each one has its own unique charm, from sun-filled open spaces to towering book walls and ultra-convenient city-center locations.

Whether you're looking for a cozy spot to relax, a quiet place to get some work done, or simply a café with good taste to escape the buzz of Osaka, I hope these suggestions help you find just the right place.
