While the cherry blossoms in most locations across Osaka, Nara, and Kyoto have already faded, just one hour by train from Kyoto, the cherry blossom-lined road in Makino is now in full bloom, showcasing its peak beauty.

The closest train station to this location is Makino Station. Address: Google Map.

Kaidzu-Osaki Cherry Blossom Road is about 2 km from Makino Station. You can either walk or rent a bicycle from the shops in front of the train station to get there.

The bicycles available here are all power-assisted, with rental prices of 1,000 JPY for 3 hours and 1,500 JPY for 6 hours. However, all bicycles must be returned before 5 PM. Because of this, I decided not to rent one, as I wanted to take my time and enjoy the sunset along this beautiful road.

Makino is a truly peaceful town, unlike the bustling crowds at other popular tourist destinations, allowing you to take your time and fully appreciate the stunning scenery.

This town is located right next to Lake Biwa, Japan's largest freshwater lake. So we can also easily find beautiful views overlooking the lake like this.

There are more than 800 Somei Yoshino peach trees along 4km of this road.

We can walk along this road to admire the scenery, or we can rent a boat to row in Lake Biwa.

Or if you don’t feel like rowing a boat yourself, there are also sightseeing boats like this available for tourists to enjoy the view.

The scenery in Kaidzu-Osaki reminds me of Ine fishing village in Kyoto. It’s really similar, from the scenery to the peace here. (You can read my article about Ine fishing village and Amanohashidate HERE ).

I will leave the location of this cherry blossom tree here for you to find easily: https://maps.app.goo.gl/jRfeGugBnqpCF4yT7

Today is a beautifully sunny day, so my photos hardly need any editing—the original shots are already stunning.

The surface of Lake Biwa is very calm, with hardly any ripples, so I really enjoy taking photos of the boats here. They look as if they are floating peacefully on the lake.

In addition, the cherry blossom branches along with the sparkling lake surface are also my favorite "subjects" here.

At the end of the road, there is a ticket booth where you can purchase tickets for a sightseeing cruise. Each ride lasts about 50 minutes, and the ticket price is 2,500 JPY per person.

In addition, there are also many restaurants in the area that you can try. They serve dishes such as udon, tempura, grilled chestnuts, and various seafood options. Right in front of the restaurants, you'll find two massive weeping cherry trees with stunning deep pink blossoms.

At the end of the road, there is a temple called Osaki Dera, situated on the mountainside. Fortunately, the climb isn’t too steep, so I decided to go up and explore.

In front of the temple, there is also an ancient cherry blossom tree, incredibly large and in mankai (its full-bloom stage), creating a breathtaking sight.
After spending a few minutes resting here, I started walking back in time to catch the sunset at Lake Biwa. I began my return journey at around 4:30 p.m.

Nắng vàng của hoàng hôn cũng làm màu của hoa anh đào chuyển sang màu khác, rất lạ mắt .

After walking for a while, I made my way back to the cherry blossom tree that I had photographed in the morning.

Cùng mình đứng ngắm cảnh ở đây và xem mình có bắt được khoảnh khắc đẹp nào không nhé .

At this point, the sun was gradually setting behind the mountain, so I quickly moved to other spots to capture more angles before the light faded.

Here I met a friend from Hong Kong, and took photos with her until sunset.

Believe me, the scenery in real life is much more beautiful than in the photos.

This is definitely a place you should visit during cherry blossom season. You can enjoy the flowers and take in the peaceful town next to the vast Biwa Lake, without the crowds that are typical at other cherry blossom spots. My entire photo session lasted about 6 hours, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., so be sure to plan your time here accordingly.
