After June, filled with the vibrant colors of hydrangeas, Japan continues into July with the next equally beautiful flower season — the lotus. Today, I will introduce some of the most beautiful lotus garden locations in the Kansai area, so you can easily choose the one that best suits you.
- Yumesae Lotus Garden (夢前 蓮の花苑) – Himeji
Address: https://maps.app.goo.gl/REiNy9HYpHmwfsaU9
This lotus garden is 1 hour 45 minutes by train and bus from Osaka. First, take the train to Himeji Station, then take a bus for about 25 minutes directly to the garden (the bus usually stops at Bus Stop No. 17, so make sure to pay attention).

This garden is located next to the Yamasa Kamaboku seafood processing company, where you can eat, drink, and buy things before heading out to take photos.

This store mainly sells seafood-related products, including prepared and frozen foods, as well as omiyage (souvenirs) for takeout.

The prepared foods are very diverse, including shrimp cakes, squid cakes, octopus, ...
Besides the restaurant, there is a public restroom where women can also change clothes before taking photos.

This garden is very large and divided into different zones, with each zone featuring a different type of lotus. There are paths between each zone, making it very easy to take photos.

I visited in late June to early July, and the flowers had just started to bloom. They would bloom beautifully until mid-July. Everyone, please plan your visit accordingly to go early.
The first area of the garden features white lotuses, with small white petals and a hint of pink at the tip of the petals.

Some pictures I took at this lotus garden:

The next area of the garden is the pink lotus garden, featuring more vibrant and eye-catching colors.

The pink lotus blooms with larger petals, grows closely together, and has bright colors, making it easy to photograph.

Let's see some of the pictures I took here:

And the last area, located at the farthest end, is also the most beautiful part of the garden. Be sure not to miss it!

The lotus in this area grows tall, has pink petals, and the leaves are also more vibrant and beautiful than in the previous two areas.

You can easily capture photos like this, "lying in the middle of the lotus garden."

Let's take a look at some of the pictures I took in this area.

In my opinion, this is the most beautiful location for taking lotus photos in the Kansai area. It has a large campus, paths between the gardens, diverse and colorful flowers, and, especially, no entrance fee.
2. Kyoto Botanical Garden (京都府立植物園)
Address: https://maps.app.goo.gl/tnA2XPX9ri2o7BDw6
To get there, take the train from Kyoto Station to Kitayama Station, then walk about 10 minutes to the garden. Admission is 200 JPY.

As the name suggests, this is a botanical garden located in Kyoto City, with hundreds of different types of plants and flowers that bloom beautifully year-round. In addition to lotuses, the garden also features roses, hydrangeas, peonies, cherry blossoms, and even a bamboo forest, ...

This garden is also very convenient for transportation, just over an hour by train from Osaka Station or 30 minutes by train from Kyoto Station.
3. Fujiwara Palace Ruins – Nara
Address: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Bqi3fKjmTAp2Zqzw9
An extremely familiar place for you in the Kansai area, famous for its garden where mustard flowers and cherry blossoms bloom at the same time.

You can review how to get here in my article “Rapeflowers and Cherry Blossoms at Fujiwara Palace Ruins” HERE .
In addition to mustard flowers and cherry blossoms, this area is also famous for its cosmos and lotus flower gardens.

There are as many as 10 different types of lotus flowers here, with a variety of shapes and colors.

This area is very large, with paths running through the gardens. There is also parking and public toilets available for everyone.

Above are three typical lotus viewing locations in the Kansai area. If you are in Osaka and don't want to spend too much time traveling, you can refer to the following places:
- Tsurumi Ryokuchi Park (Address: https://maps.app.goo.gl/uJSfKzgsjM934iUG8)
- Nagai Botanical Garden (Address: https://maps.app.goo.gl/yeBxhG8SvsVW9GsT6)
- Oizumi Park (Address: https://maps.app.goo.gl/2Pu6ZnkFYbzCmKrx5)
Hopefully, this article makes it easier for you to find places to see lotus flowers around the Kansai area of Japan. Thank you for reading to the end of the article!
